The Visual and Written Coming Together

What have we been up to?

There are so many ways that the people at UCI express themselves. This year we are introducing an entirely new audio/visual component to PLEXUS. Check out Heidi Negendak performing “Pretty Hurts”, Shrikanth Krishnan (MS2) singing “Someone you admire”, and much more.

Art for the Soul provides art classes to cancer patients, caregivers and family members. This year we are very fortunate to have received works from patients at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCIMC.

Self Portrait

Val Engstrom
Cancer Survivor

Made possible by the University of California Medical Humanities Consortium, the medical student writing competition attracted some serious attention this year. With over 45 highly qualified submissions, these three pieces represent works that not only best reflected this year’s theme of Equilibrium and Transformation, but also captured our imaginations.
